—Frommer's, The New York Times
Sacramento's downtown restaurant scene has risen a notch with the quiet arrival of Mulvaney's B&L (the name refers to the Bailey Building & Loan from It's a Wonderful Life.) in a historic firehouse just east of the state capitol. The restaurant's classy, understated decor evokes the feel of an upscale dinner house, with original brick walls, an open kitchen, and inviting bar. Owner and executive chef Patrick Mulvaney's eclectic entrees spring from the bounteous local fare.

About Us
Our Name
The name Mulvaney’s Building and Loan is taken from the movie “It’s a Wonderful Life” where Jimmy Stewart did not want to stay in his small town and take over his father’s business Baileys Building and Loan, he wanted to go off to the big city and make a future for himself, and by the end of the movie, he realized that his future was in investing in his own community and that is how we feel.
